Information

Extension modules • Relay module •

In this module there have been used 8 relays with one change-over switch each as well as 8 LED's to display the status. You can use i.e. the very cheap OMRON G5LE-1 relay das can endure switching voltages of 250 VAC/125 VDC at powers up to 10 ampere. Since the conductor pathes are only about 35 um thick you should plate the switching line additionally with tin-solder or use only small power. The maximum switching power of the relay is 1200 VA/240 W.

IMPORTANT: In the event that all relays are active at the same time the circuit needs about 450mA, that will be taken in the below setup from the 5 Volt voltage regulator of the Extension Board. The voltage regulator (equiped with a cooler) is able to take that but will get, depending on the input voltage, very warm. If you have a "fitting" power supply of about 12 or 24 Volt available you should use in any case "G5LE-1 12V" or "G5LE-1 24 V" relays, which work with 12 resp. 24 Volt. Thereby you should detach only the VCC line of the module from port pin 1 and connect it with port pin 3 instead. During use of the 12 Volt relays "G5LE-1 12V" the power consumption reduces thanks to the higher inner restistance (360 Ohm) to about 270mA, at the 24 Volt relays "G5LE-1 24V" to about 140mA. In both cases the voltage regulator of the Experimenting Board doesn't get burdened anymore.

We don't offer an example program in this case since the activation of the module is quiet simple. A high signal at a pin activates the proper relay and the LED is illuminated.

Data

  • Suitable for Experimenting Board
    I and II
  • Attachable to extension port
Can be attached to any port
  • Adjustments at DIP-switch
No special adjustments necessary. XTAL 1 and XTAL 2 should be "ON" so the MC gets a tact signal.
  • Power consumption
Depending on the number of triggered relays and the type this module can use up to to 450mA...
  • Circuit board / Layout
Simple layout. Single sided etched circuit board with only three bridges.
  • Limitations
At port 3 of the 20 Pin Flash MC's there is no port line 6. This of course is why K6 can't be triggered on that port.
